Mission Statement
To follow Christ and lead others to him.
Mission Prayer
"Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him, that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen."
Kindermusik: Music and Dance for Children & Youth this Fall
As many of you know we began offering both Kindermusik classes and private music classes at church last year. These classes are being offered by Dunwoody School for the Arts at St. Martin’s. New classes are now forming for Kindermusik®, Early Childhood Dance and private lessons in Voice and Piano.
We are offering these classes because we believe that music and dance are an essential part of a healthy childhood and should be available in a safe environment.
Jane Hendrix has been the Director of Dunwoody School for the Arts since 1993 and will be personally teaching the Kindermusik classes as well as voice lessons. She has a Bachelor’s in Music in Vocal Performance from Converse College, Spartanburg, SC and a Masters of Music from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC.
She is a talented musician and a superb child advocate. Jane encourages children to be themselves in a million small ways. You really get a sense that she loves children – ironically something I have not always found with people who teach children. She is respectful to all children regardless of their ages.
Jane has been a Kindermusik Educator since 1993. She has worked as a trainer for Kindermusik International since 1999 and currently serves as an online Mentor for Kindermusik University. She joined the five-member Speakers Bureau for Kindermusik International’s Professional Development Seminars in the 2003 and traveled to Kindermusik of South Africa’s Convention in 2007 as the Keynote Speaker. She also co-authored the 2009 and 2010 Professional Development Seminars.
DSA will offer three Kindermusik curricula at St. Martin’s (in addition to private voice, piano and dance classes):
• Village: for newborns through 18 months
• Our Time: for children 18 months to 3 years
• Family Time: for multi-ages (6 months through 5 years).
If you are interested in private voice, dance, piano or Kindermusik classes please contact Jane Hendrix at jhendrix@dbc.org or 770-280-1215
