St. Elizabeth’s Chapter
St. Elizabeth’s is an outreach ministry that focuses on a number of activities throughout the year. These include the St. Martin’s Emergency Assistance fund, which helps people with immediate needs for food, clothing and shelter; four blood drives each year in coordination with Life South; four meals a year for the parishioners of Holy Comforter Church; providing music and assisting the Priest during Holy Communion for the patients at Ashton Woods/Unihealth Nursing Home; participating in the needs of IOH (Interfaith Outreach House); in December members share a communion service and Christmas brunch at a member’s home, as well as providing holiday gift cards for Emmaus House; the “Deck the Halls” fundraiser is administered by St. Elizabeth’s at this time also; each May the Chapter gives a tea for the Senior Citizens’ Centers, and at our first meeting in September, we prepare a large quantity of sandwiches for Emmaus House.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor, beginning with fellowship and refreshments. So that we do not forget our Christian mission, we devote a portion of time for bible study from inspirational books of faith. As St. Elizabeth continues to refine and redefine its focus, we invite you to join us and participate in this vital ministry. Betty Boone Etheridge, 404-237-8166, betty_boone@att.net
St. Margaret’s Chapter
Primary focus is the support of the church nursery and parish in-reach for young children. Community outreach and the spiritual development of women and mothers are also focal points. Meets on second Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. (nursery provided). Sherri Robertson, 678-570-7023.
St. Martha’s Chapter
We serve the parish and our community in many capacities including through the Outreach ministry, inreach efforts, and fellowship activities, including greeters, the Annual Parish Picnic and the quarterly food drive for the Suthers Center Food Pantry. Meetings are held in the evenings to enable both working and non-working women to attend.
St. Mary Magdalene’s Chapter
We are open to any woman who is interested in mission work both within and outside of the U.S. Our annual benefit bridge luncheon is our main fundraiser, held the Thursday prior to Ash Wednesday. From the funds raised, we provide support to a variety of local and national organizations. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 for fellowship and refreshments. The meeting follows the healing service, at about 10:30. For more information, please contact Joy Simms, 770-457-4986, rbsimms@bellsouth.net or Gay Jolley, 770-457-1063, gjolley@bellsouth.net.
St. Monica’s Chapter
Attention Moms of School Age Children: Do you want to become more involved in our Church community? Are you interested in exploring a deeper understanding of what happiness means to you – and how you can enrich your life journey, and that of your elementary, middle, and high school age children, through fellowship with like-minded women? If so, join us on the Third Wednesday of the month. Our meeting starts at 9:00 a.m. in the Parlor.
This year each monthly meeting is centered on the Mind, Body and Spirit. Our chapter focuses on family outreach and enrichment with an emphasis on involving our children. Our chapter flourishes in an environment where we share both with one another. We seek to gain and grow a deeper understanding, appreciation and knowledge of happiness, openness and thankfulness for ourselves as well as those around us. Our regular meetings involve selected readings, discussions and other exchanges that allow us to benefit from each others’ experiences and perspectives. In addition to our monthly meetings we have fun filled outings and two seasonal parties. Lisa Smith, 404-272-1288, lisa.martin.smith@gmail.com.
