Foyers began during WW2 when Coventry Cathedral was bombed and destroyed. Church members and staff began to meet together in small groups "to bridge the divisions which subtly separate us from one another." These were the first foyer groups and it grew from there. The French word “foyer” means “hearth or fireside,” and suggests small groups sharing a common love and concern for each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Foyers provides an opportunity to get to know other members of our parish over an informal, intimate potluck dinner. Groups of 8 to 10 (combined at random, rather than by age, zip code, etc.) meet monthly for a simple meal and fellowship which nurtures and builds our community. Couples or individuals take turns hosting the monthly gatherings over a five or six month period. Each Foyers group determines its own meeting date. Johnson Ferry Road NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. At Super Foyers, groups will be chosen at random from among those who expressed interest in attending.
