St. Cecilia Choir Awards and Recognition
St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church is an affiliate of the RSCM in America, which is a branch of the Royal School of Church Music, founded in 1927 by the organist of Westminster Abbey in London. The goal of the organization is to provide musical education to singers through a structured choral music program and summer music courses.
Their Voice for Life training program does just as the name suggests…it provides a lifetime framework for choral singers to develop their vocal skills, and their musical understanding. It is for voices of all ages and all stages of development. It is my hope that our young singers will carry these skills and love of music throughout their entire lives. Not only do they learn to sing, they learn to navigate our Prayer Book, Hymnal, and the Bible. There are 5 levels of development. The levels are: White/Cotta (preparatory level), Light Blue ribbon, Dark Blue ribbon, Red ribbon, and Yellow ribbon.
Congratulations to our choristers for reaching the Red level this morning! Sarah Adebola, Gabby Nama, Bo Smith, and Rose Smith. Also to Genevieve Petriz, recipient of the Loyal Service Award.
