More Details

EfM is preparation for ministry administered by the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee. Through study, prayer, and reflection in a seminar setting facilitated by a trained mention, EfM groups examine the history of the Christian tradition, the disciplines of biblical exegesis and interpretation, systematic theology, church history, ethics, liturgics, and ascetical theology.

EfM is a four-year curriculum; students enroll for nine-month cycles.

Daughters of the King

The Order of the Daughters of the King is an Anglican lay religious order open to all confirmed women who are members of the Episcopal Church (or a church that is in communion with it). Members participate in a 12-week period of study and reflection, leading to lifelong vows of prayer and service. St. Martin’s St. Clare Chapter also helps with funeral services, receptions and special events. The group meets on the second Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments, followed by the meeting at 10:00 a.m. All women are invited to attend anytime.

Episcopal church women

All women of St. Martin’s are automatically members of ECW.

S.A.G.E.s

The S.A.G.E.S (Socially Active, Growing, Engaged Seniors), formed in 2014, offers opportunities for seniors to stay actively involved in social, educational, and fun activities within the Atlanta area. The group holds five or six gatherings a year – all daytime events. Events are announced through the church's e-news, and all are welcome.

For more information, to volunteer to help coordinate, or to make event suggestions, contact Dottie Palmer.

THE LIBRARY

The library provides resources both for instructors of Sunday Christian Formation and for our parishioners in their spiritual journeys.

More Details

The library has a growing catalog of more than 700 books on biblical studies, personal spiritual growth, Episcopal Church history and practices, and other categories. There is also a comprehensive reference section that includes complete sets of the Interpreter's Bible and a children’s section where children are welcome.

Evening Prayer

We have a small but dedicated group of parishioners who gather for Evening Prayer every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. Register here and the Zoom link will be sent to you upon completion of your registration.

Prayer shawl ministry

Started in 2008 by Deacon Edith Woodling, then Chaplain of St. Martin’s School, the Prayer Shawl Ministry is for anyone who likes to knit or crochet or would like to learn. They are fashioned with prayers and love and are intended to convey those feelings and actions to the recipients.

Prayer shawls may be kept as long as they are needed and then, if desired, passed on or returned to be used by others. Materials for prayer shawls are donated by the members of the ministry and by others who wish to help in this ministry. There are no dues or officers.

Anyone who knows of a need for a shawl may have one for the asking, or the clergy are glad to deliver them. Call the church office for more information or to give or receive a shawl.
