Easter Vigil, March 31, 2024

6:30 A.M. EASTER VIGIL

Though we have held the Easter Vigil on Saturday night in previous years, this year, we invite you to this sunrise service on Sunday morning. The Easter Vigil begins in darkness by the great fire, kindled outside of the church. This service ends with Holy Eucharist and celebration, in joyous recollection of that first Easter morning. The service is also live-streamed to Facebook and YouTube.

9:00 A.M. & 11:00 A.M. Easter Services of Holy Eucharist, Rite II +

All are welcome to worship with us on Easter morning at 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. These services are both live-streamed to Facebook and YouTube. The 9:00 a.m. service includes baptisms. Between the two services, at 10:15 a.m., there is an Easter egg hunt for all children. Nursery care is available from 8:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m.

A Note from the Rector

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which falls on Valentine’s Day this year. We’ll offer services at noon and 7:00 p.m. On February 14, we can anticipate that many people will be receiving roses and chocolates within hours of receiving ashes and these words: “you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

We have been long planning to thematically frame this penitential season with this important and underutilized confession: “I’m sorry, I was wrong.” Saying “I’m sorry, I was wrong” is vital in our relationship with God and in all of our relationships.

“I’m sorry, I was wrong” is the most direct way to communicate the truth that we know and sometimes struggle to admit. If you have a romantic relationship, or even a platonic relationship, you know how liberating these words can be when we have wronged another – by what we have done, or by what we have left undone.

Faithfully,
Mtr. Monica Mainwaring

I’m sorry, I was wrong

PSALM 51

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy,
    blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
    and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
    and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against you, you alone, have I sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are justified in your sentence
    and blameless when you pass judgment.
5 Indeed, I was born guilty,
    a sinner when my mother conceived me.

6 You desire truth in the inward being;
    therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
    wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones that you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins,
    and blot out all my iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
    and put a new and right spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from your presence,
    and do not take your holy spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
    and sustain in me a willing spirit.
